Our Mission

Our Mission: The South Suburban Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the well being of animals in those communities we serve through the care and sheltering of animals needing protection, investigative practices that will prevent abuse, the education of the public as to ownership responsibilities and providing adoption services.

ADOPT

All adoption fees are considered donations to the shelter and are non-refundable. Your generous donation to the South Suburban Humane Society allows us to carry out our mission of helping animals who need us most. For a complete step-by-step outline of the adoption procedure please click here:

Adoption donations include first shots, first worming, microchip, spay or neuter, tag and most importantly a wonderful new companion. There is an additional fee of $15 for a Rabies vaccination.

To expedite the adoption process you may print your application and bring the completed form with you when you visit. SSHS Adoption Application

Adoption Fees

Dogs:

Small mixed breeds under 20 pounds: 
Under 6 months: $175 
6 months to 5 years: $150
Over 5 years: $90

Large mixed breeds over 20 pounds:
Under 6 months: $150
6 months and older: $90

Purebreds
Under 6 months: $200
6 months to 5 years: $125
Over 5 years: $90

Cats:

Kittens 6 months and under: $75
Over 6 months: $55

Rabbits:

Adoption fee varies

Small Mammals & Birds:

$5-$25 – depending on animal
