Heart Worm is on the rise

We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of dogs that have been left outside without heartworm preventative and are now testing positive for heartworm.  There are no laws that prevent dog owners from leaving their pets outside.  While outside these dogs are exposed to mosquitoes which can carry the heartworm parasite.  Without heartworm preventative these dogs are destined to become carriers or hosts of this deadly parasite.

The heartworm parasite bores holes through circulatory tissue, leaving a trail of problems in its wake.  It is fatal without expensive treatment.

Please help spread the word that prevention is the best and sometimes only solution for most dogs.

If you or someone you know is in need of low-cost heartworm testing and lower cost preventative, please call SSHS at 708-755-PETS and we can help!
